THE TRUTHDEN BLOG constantly seeks for talented, well informed and disciplined contributors who are passionate about positively affecting lives through article writing to join our team of contributors. Contributors will be entitled to promotional by-lines.

GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTORS
1. ONLY “Original” articles not copied from other sources are accepted.
2. Articles must not exceed 500 words per article, they should be thoughtful, engaging, enlightening and be able to inspire.
3. Articles must be within the confines of our mission.
4. Articles can be either news or opinion article, that enlighten or inspire inspire youths (and adults) to better values in lifestyle, relationships and society.
5. Picture, video, audio files etc. are allowed to accompany text where possible.
6. Pictures and videos which closely represent the topic of a contribution should follow the contribution. Originality is advised in all media file submissions, but where no original is found, contributors can send in media files from other sources, but must acknowledge the source of such pictures, videos or audio file. Eg. Photo credit: www.vanguardngr.com.
7. Submissions should be well edited and within the standards of written English.
8. Submissions should be accompanied by the authors’ brief bio.
9.Collaboration on articles are allowed.

Dear sister,

I am far away in Sokoto where Valentine’s day celebration is not much mentioned nor "over-anticipated" as it is in the east, this made my letter come to you a little late, because I suddenly had to check the calendar and not rely on events around me to realize that today is the so-called valentine’s day.

I hope it still arrived early enough before you had concluded on how to spend today?

Valentine’s day my dear sister only happens in a day of the 365 days of a year, but the outcome of your decision today may define your life forever. For this reason I wish to help you as you decide on your actions today.

I well know that those young men in the neighborhood: Ben, Ibrahim, Femi, Obinna, Yusuf, Erhiroghene, Festus and even ones outside the neighborhood may have approached you before now to be their val as they call it, but before you decide on whether to accept any of them, or even if you have accepted one of them already.

First know that valentine’s day isn’t a true christian celebration as it cannot be found anywhere in the Holy Bible. It is just one of the many inventions of the early Roman church for indoctrination. 

Secondly, most of the men who have approached you with enticing words, including their saying that they love you, are nothing but liers.

Love is entirely different from lust and intent to fornicate. It doesn’t wait until weeks leading to February 14th to manifest itself. Love does not choose or value you based on your bodily curves and facial looks.

Love is patient and kind. Love will not pressure you for valentine sex or whatever they call it when he’s sure both of you aren’t married. 

Love gives not to hold you to an emotional ransom later on.

So,  before you take a final decision on how you will spend this and every other February 14, please consider these words of mine dear sister. Let wisdom and the fear of God guide your decisions.

I will always love you.
